Boys & Girls Clubs Invites Community to Relive Childhood at Annual Day for Kids Celebration
The Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northland is gearing up to celebrate our annual Day for Kids to highlight the critical needs of kids and teens in our community. Today, too many youth are facing serious issues that can deprive them of a happy, healthy childhood and negatively impact their futures. Sponsored by WDIO, Day for Kids celebrates the life-changing work taking place at the Boys & Girls Clubs each day by encouraging adults to spend meaningful time with young people and engage in fun and active play. This year’s Day for Kids will be celebrated with hundreds of parents, kids, and community members in an event at the Essentia Health Duluth Heritage Sports Center’s Seitz Arena, located at 120 S 30th Ave W.
This is just one of hundreds of Day for Kids events planned nationwide, with all events free and open to the public. Set for Saturday, September 9, from noon to 3 p.m., Day for Kids will feature a variety of games, a bounce house, activities with local artist Bogdana, and pudding eating contests. There will also be visits from the Duluth Police and Fire Departments as well as the 148th Fighter Wing. Community members will get the chance to see the Boys & Girls Clubs’ Dave Goldberg Family Branch, located in the Duluth Heritage Sports Center.
“At our Clubs, we change the opportunity equation for kids in our community, enabling them to achieve great futures,” says Todd Johnson, CEO of the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northland. “Day for Kids is a great way for kids to have fun and foster relationships with adult mentors. The event is just one of the ways we enable kids and teens to reach their full potential.”
Day for Kids aligns with the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northland’s overall initiative to help kids and teens become more actively involved in their community, live a healthy lifestyle, and achieve success. With branches in both Duluth and Superior, the Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northland provides opportunities for over 6,000 youth each year. The Clubs are open Monday through Friday from 2:30 to 8:30 p.m., with Saturday hours at the Lincoln Park Branch. For more information, click here.
