Post-Secondary Scholarship

The Overman Scholarship Fund

The Overman Scholarship Fund provides financial assistance to Club Members who have a desire to further their education beyond high school.

HistorySilly Student

The Overman Scholarship Fund was established in 1978. Since then, we have provided more than $400,000 in scholarships to more than 130 deserving young men and women. Many of these young people are the first members of their families to graduate from high school and attend college or post-secondary education.

The Overman Scholarship Fund honors the memory of Duluthians Ben Overman and his wife Jeanne Horowitz Overman, who gave unselfishly of themselves to support the needs of those less fortunate.

How to Apply

Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northland Club Members interested in receiving a scholarship to continue their education after high school should contact the Branch Director at their local Club to begin the application process.

To qualify for scholarship funding, a student must have been a Club Member of Boys & Girls Clubs of the Northland. The deadline for first-time and renewal applications is January 15 of each year. The Overman Scholarship Board of Trustees reviews the applications, and prospective candidates go through an interview process. Scholarships are awarded in August.
